Fearfully and Wonderfully Made
Ezekiel update: last night
went okay. He is still sedated and paralyzed for now. We really need to pray
that his oxygen levels come up. His shunt and collaterals seem to be working,
but his oxygen is still low. We are waiting to see what happens with his levels
before we can move toward removing the ventilator. Today we rejoice that
Ezekiel is fearfully and wonderfully made.

Pray Continually
He is out if surgery and in the ICU. Things are looking okay at
this point. Continue to pray for good blood flow through his right side as we
slowly take him off meds and breathing tubes over the next few days. Our God is
good and we rejoice in his faithfulness through everything.
Trusting
Here in the waiting room we have some intellectual reading going
on.
Afternoon update:
Today has been full of ups and downs. Ezekiel went back for anesthesia about 8:45 this morning. Surgery actually started around 11:00. The doctor searched for a long time and ultimately did not find a "true pulmonary" in which to out a shunt. That put us on to "plan b." they are now working on unifocalization of the right side (bringing those collaterals together). This means a longer recovery and stay at the hospital. The good news is that they have not had to use the bypass machine yet, so things are still functioning during surgery. Continue to pray. No indication of timing for surgery to be over. We simply trust that the hand of the Almighty is holding our son.

Psalm 61:1-3
Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer; from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I,
for you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy.

Big God: 1st Surgery
We are here in St. Louis and prepping for
surgery tomorrow. Rough day with blood draws and such. We have been soaking in
every moment. Surgery is tomorrow at 9am. Here are the specifics of what we
would ask you to pray for: pray for guidance and strength for his surgeon, Dr.
Huddleston (I told him today that we have people around the world praying for
him). Pray for peace for us tomorrow as we await the results. Pray for strength
and very little pain for Ezekiel. The biggest prayer is that the doctor
will find what they are looking for when they get inside (a native pulmonary
artery to put a shunt into). I can not express enough how blessed we are to
have the prayers of so many. We serve a BIG God and there truly is nothing that
he can not do. As I was writing scripture this week to bring with us, one that
I wrote stuck out to me.
Isaiah 40:26 says,
"Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these? He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name, by the greatness of his might, and because he is strong in power not one is missing."
That is a BIG God!

Just The beginning of our mending Ezekiel's heart
We have had many people ask us what the plan is for Ezekiel’s special heart. We have recently made the decision to travel to St. Louis for a heart cath procedure on July 23rd. There are a couple goals with this procedure. First of all, we will find out what has happened with his heart since his first cath procedure at a couple days old. Secondly, it will allow us to see about possibilities for his future and if surgery is needed. We have a request of all of our friends and family. We know that we serve a God of miracles. He has shown time and time again that He is faithful and that He can heal. We would like to invite you to be in prayer for our son and our family during this time. We have set up a website to allow you to choose a time to pray specifically for him. There are times starting 1 week before his procedure and going until that morning. We know through God’s word that the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. If you would be willing to spend time in prayer for our family, the website is, http://www.24-7prayer.com/signup/79a90b. Simply click on a time slot and type your name.
Here are specific things to pray for: Travel to and from St. Louis, The doctors that will be performing the procedure, our minds and hearts to not be anxious during this time, for complete healing and growth of Ezekiel’s heart, and most of all that God will receive the glory through the life and testimony of Ezekiel. Thank you all for your love and support!
